Evaluation
This evaluation will analyse my final prouct for the School Magazine as part of my Media coursework.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The media product I have created uses different aspects of media forms available to the public (consumers). I have displayed knowledge of different features annotated in the examples of magazines included in my blog.
These features include; a mast head, images, colour and mise en scene. I have developed my knowledge of mise en scene and what it involves. As it was one of my first times, experimenting with programmes such as photoshop and paint, the magzine products I have created are not at the normal standard of a magazine product that would be available to the public. My magazine cover challenges the expected standards of a media product.
How does your media product represent particular 'Social Groups?'
The magazine media product I have created is aimed towards school pupils and parents. Therefore the magazine is suitable for that purpose. This shows that education is represented in a formal way. The magazine cover is still friendly and inviting to parents, in order to encourage parents to consider the school as an educational facility for their child. The magazine is also useful and suitable for current students. who may rely on the magazine for important information and updates. The contents page had to be easy to use by both parents and pupils, categorised into the social group interested in school and education.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The media product I have created is a scool magazine, meaning it has an educational basis. Therefore I would expect the product to be sold by the school itself as well as any other educational institutions, such as uniform stores, ofsted outlooks and stationary stores (e.g. WHSmith.)
Who would be the audience for your media product?
As the magazine product is for a school/ educational institution, therefore I would suggest the magazine media product I have created is aimed towards school pupils and parents.
How did you attract/ address your audience?
The magazine I have created is in both a formal and informal nature. I tried to make the media product as friendly and inviting as possible in order to attract the attention of parents looking to send their child to a school, portraying the school in a postive way. However the magazine is still formal in the sense it informs consumers of news and updates within the school. The magazine is useful for both parents and students as it conains useful information easy to locate using the clear contents pags, I have also created and included on my media A level blog.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have displayed knowledge of different features annotated in the examples of magazines included in my blog, Such as; mast head, images, colour and mise en scene. I have developed my knowledge of mise en scene and what it involves.I have also deveoped and improved my skills using prgorammes including Photoshop and Blogger itself.
